Why do they make Victoria Newman looks so drab?

Her hair needs a highlighting, her clothes are always black or brown and totally cover her up like she is a nun. Her eyes look so tired because of the makeup, even her accessories are dull. Why are they trying to portray her like this? She is so much prettier than what they are making her out to be. Are they trying to make her look old and haggard and if so, WHY?
