12 yr old not in school mother says ok?

My step sons mother broke up with her boyfriend who she was living with in chester wv. They moved to salem ohio and she thinks its ok for him not to go to school the rest of the year. She wanted to in rule him in to lisbon but its to late in the year and they wont take him. Me and my husband his father live right by lisbon school but she wont let him stay with us. So he is going to miss atleast 60 more days of school and has alredy missed 20 due to her not making him go to school. We have contacted the school he went to and he is still in ruled there and said we could drive him back and fourth but she wont allow that. All she is worried about is her child support. She has no house for them she is living at her sisters and there sleeping on the floors. We just want to keep him so he can go to school but she will have the cops called. Is there anything we can do about this. We have a lawyers appt next wed but in the mean time he needs in school.
