How to get people to understand that the Modern Confederacy does not advocate for slavery?

Its weird but people bring up the postion and the issues of the 1860s. I try to explain that even though the south kept slavery going it was a issue of that time. What im trying to say is that slavery is dead and good riddance. Todays issues are differrent and that confederates do not want slavery to return. We just want our right to govern our future. To be free from the tyrants in washington. Also im talking about the push for the confederate government in the south for today.
