Where can I get free help reading a history book?

I have to read Mysteries of the Middle Ages by Thomas Cahill for my seminar history cl this year, and I really need help understanding what the heck this guy is saying. is there a free summary online or a comprehensive text similar to the "No Fear Shakespeare" from Sparknotes that give you a step-by-step explanation of what is being said? thanks in advance!
