This is probably a stupid question: Is it legal in the USA to access any unsecured wireless network?

You can get in trouble for invasion of privacy and a networking crime that I think is called 'freewiring' or something like that. Laptops send out signals to connect to the internet, and just like you can to unsecured computers, even a poorly skilled hacker could do it to a secure one.
